The Community Public Health Programmes 2003-2008 set down the objective of establishing and operating a sustainable health monitoring system, which is overseen by the Health Information Unit at DG SANCO. The system aims at producing comparable information on health and health-related behaviour of the population, on diseases and on health systems, based on commonly agreed pan-European indicators.

Paul Ehrlich Institut

Paul Ehrlich Institut

The Paul-Ehrlich-Institut (PEI) is an independent federal authority within the responsibility of the Federal Ministry of Health. Regulatory tasks of the PEI include approval of clinical trials, granting of marketing authorisations and official batch releases for (immuno-) biological medicinal products including sera and vaccines, monoclonal antibodies, blood and blood products, allergens and tissue preparations as well as advanced therapy medicinal products (e.g. gene transfer and cell therapy medicinal products). The PEI supports the development of these medicinal products by providing scientific advice to biotechnology companies and academic groups in biomedicine, nationwide and also for the European Medicines Agency EMEA. Furthermore, the PEI performs basic and applied research related to its responsibility for sera, vaccines, immunobiologicals and biotechnology products and blood-derived products.

International Patient Organisation for Primary Immunodeficiencies (IPOPI)

International Patient Organisation for Primary Immunodeficiencies (IPOPI)

IPOPI is the global non-governmental organisation working to improve the quality of life for people with primary immunodeficiencies.

IPOPI exists to work to improve access to early diagnosis and optimal treatment and care; to promote the establishment and support of NMOs and to be a strong and effective voice for all NMOs around the world.

We work to achieve this through:
Publications to help new and developing national member organisations (NMOs), our website, an electronic newsletter and relevant occasional publications
Representation at relevant conferences; blood safety forums; with stakeholders in industry and where appropriate at government ministries
Support by mentoring new NMOs, ongoing communication  with established NMOs and a bi-annual conference

INGID

The International Nursing Group for Immunodeficiencies

The International Nursing Group for Immunodeficiencies (INGID) was formed in 1994. The aims of the group are to improve and extend the quality of nursing care of immune deficient patients and to increase the awareness and understanding of primary immunodeficiencies. This is being done by:

  • Forming international networks of nurses working with patients with immune deficiencies to share knowledge, experience, information and research.
  • Creating a base for international collaboration between nurses in research and qulity assurance projects.
  • INGID works closely with the European Society for Immunodeficiencies (ESID), other physicians/scientists interested in primary immunodeficiencies and with the International patient Organisation for Primary Immunodeficiencies (IPOPI).

ESID

European Society for Immunodeficiencies (ESID)

The European Society for Immunodeficiencies (ESID) is a non-profit organization having multiple aims. The main objectives are to facilitate the exchange of ideas and information among doctors, nurses, biomedical investigators, patients and their families concerned with primary immunodeficiency diseases and also to promote research on causes, mechanisms and treatment of these disorders. Recently ESID has initiated an educational program.

ESID was established as an informal group in 1983 and became a society in 1994. ESID organizes bi-annual scientific meetings.

We hope that you will find the information at our web site useful. ESID welcomes members from all over the world. It is only through a global presence that ESID will continue to be successful.
