DR HELEN CHAPEL
Head of Clinical Immunology, John Radcliff Infirmary, Oxford
Dr Helen Chapel is Head of Clinical Immunology, Nuffield Department of Medicine, University of Oxford. She is particularly interested in primary immune defects and has served on the Board of the European Society for Immune Deficiencies [ESID], the IUIS Primary Immunodeficiency Committee and the Medical Advisory Board of IPOPI. In Oxford, she runs clinics for children and adults with Primary Immune Deficiencies [PIDs]; the Clinical Immunology multi-disciplinary team are responsible for more than 200 patients on IVIg or on subcutaneous Ig treatment at home as well as 35 on high dose IVIg at home (for immune modulation). She is also Course Director for the University of Oxford MSc course in Integrated Immunology, now taking applications for the third year. This course, for a Master's degree, is based on the highly successful PID summer schools established for ESID in 1999, now also run in South East Asia and the US. |
