DR ULRICH KALINKE
Head, Div. of Immunology, Paul-Ehrlich-Institut
Dr Ulrich Kalinke studied biology at the University of Hannover, Germany. In the context of his PhD thesis he analyzed mechanisms of T cell activation and tolerance in the lab of Prof. Hämmerling and Dr Arnold at the German Cancer Research Centre, Heidelberg, Germany. As a postdoctoral fellow, he studied virus-neutralising antibody responses in the lab of Prof Zinkernagel and Prof Hengartner at the University Hospital Zürich, Switzerland. He then examined virus-induced interferon responses at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory Monterotodo, Italy, headed by Prof Rajewsky. It was here that he worked as a staff scientist and became leader of the Anti-Viral Defence Group.
In 2002, Dr Kalinke became Head of the Division of Immunology at the Paul-Ehrlich-Institut, Langen, Germany. He is responsible for the licensing of monoclonal antibodies and tumour vaccines. In addition to regulatory activities Dr Kalinke performs basic research in the field of experimental immunology. Presentation: Welcome and Introduction |
