MR FRED MODELL

Jeffrey Modell Foundation

Fred Modell is founder of Frederick Modell Incorporated, a wholesale diamond and jewellery manufacturing business. In 1987, Mr Modell, along with his wife Vicki, established the Jeffrey Modell Foundation (JMF) in memory of their son who died at the age of 15 of a PIDs. The charity has five core objectives; Immunodeficiency research, physician education, patient support, public awareness and government advocacy.
The Modells have established 25 Jeffrey Modell Research and Diagnostic Centres in the U.S. Canada, Europe, Middle East and Asia. Additionally, there are 118 JMF Referral Centres worldwide. The Foundation conducts international symposia including the WHO/IUIS expert meeting on PIDs, research collaborations with the United States National Institutes of Health (NIH), the United States Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and numerous educational initiatives with pharmaceutical industry support. They have conducted numerous physician and patient conferences worldwide and advocated in the United States Congress and the European Union Parliament to increase research, public awareness and physician education for PIDs.

In the 20 years since its founding, the Jeffrey Modell Foundation has raised over $35 million on behalf of the physicians, researchers, and patient community directed toward a greater understanding and awareness of PIDs.
